Berlin winery and event planner team up to award a local hero their dream wedding

Opened in the summer of 2018, Berlin winery Windmill Creek Vineyard is launching its second identity as a premier event venue by awarding one lucky couple the wedding of their dreams.

Co-sponsored by Windmill Creek’s exclusive event partner Encore Events by Angie Gillis, the contest, titled "A Front Line Affair," is open to first responders or active members of the military residing in or stationed on Delmarva. Interested couples are invited to share their love stories now through March 31 for a chance to win a complete wedding package for up to 75 guests to take place on July 27, 2019. The winning entry will be announced on April 5, 2019.

To make the prize truly spectacular, Windmill Creek and Encore Events reached out to some of their favorite vendor partners. So far, nearly $25,000 worth of goods and services have been donated, including a tent, decor, florals, photography, a photo booth, DJ services, a specialty cocktail, hotel rooms, a golf package, hair and makeup services, heirloom jewelry on loan for the bride, a full catered buffet for the reception and a catered rehearsal dinner.

“When our local wedding industry friends learned how we wanted to make a big splash to honor one lucky couple’s service to our community, the response was swift and overwhelming,” said Encore Events’ Angie Gillis Unkart. 

Added Windmill Creek’s Jeannie Mariner, “Our collective vision is to make this wedding turn-key, one-of-a-kind and completely unforgettable.”

The military/first responder aspect of the giveaway was important to both sponsors.

“My husband Barry and I are U.S. Air Force veterans, and Angie comes from a military family,” said Mariner. “So putting A Front Line Affair together for a service-oriented couple is both an honor and a labor of love.”
